Founded in London in 2022, Lissen Ltd offers an interactive music streaming platform that goes beyond simply playing tracks. It connects listeners directly with artists and lets fans support creators more meaningfully.

How Does It Work?

1. User‑Centric Streaming & Royalties

Lissen implements a user‑centric royalty model where your subscription fees go only to the artists you actually stream, rather than being pooled and divided globally Lissen.

• Tickets are similar to Concerts section on Spotify and YouTube, they list dates and venue locations for concerts with a link of where to buy the tickets.

• Lissen's Royalty Model features have been built upon their unique royalty model, created and negotiated with rights-holders to create a fairer ecosystem where streaming revenue is properly shared.

• Their royalty model is called Fan-centric because with them your money as a fan only goes to the artists you stream. It's as simple as that. This differs from the pro-rata royalty system that other Digital Service Providers (DSPs) use because whereas other platforms pool subscription money into a platform-level revenue pot, at Lissen royalty payments happen at the user level.

• Under Lissen's model, the royalties paid to rights-holders (artists, songwriters, publishers, record labels) are based on the amount of time that users spend listening to their music on the app. This means that small, independent, artists get their fair share of revenue from their listeners.

• Artists therefore receives royalties based on the proportion of stream time their music received from each individual user's listening activity on the platform, rather than the proportion of streams their music received across the entire platform.

• The Exclusives tab contains Lissen's brand new feed, which replaces the music player you might see in other streaming platforms. The listening experience remains the same. What we've introduced with our feed is interactivity.

• This feed corresponds to your queue. By scrolling up and down, you control what song is playing. If you want to skip the song you're currently on, just scroll up and the next one will start playing :)

• The feed also shows you upcoming experiences that artists you listen to are offering

• Each card you see by a different artist will show you an experience that the artist has lined up

• At the top of this page you can see the two variations of the feed:

  • Explore: this feed is where you'll get songs recommended to you by our engines

  • Playlist: this feed is where the songs in your playlist will be queued
